Blackwater & Dysart Hotel Redevelopments

Central Queensland Hotels Group engages Glenzeil

Glenzeil has been engaged by the Central Queensland Hotels Group to undertake the refurbishment of two hotels, one in Dysart, the other in Blackwater. The works include new internal and external walls, additional bar servery, a new bottle shop and services.

The works will add a gaming room and bottle shop to the Jolly Collier Hotel in Dysart, and transform the old manager’s quarters into a new "sundeck bar" at the Blackwater Hotel.

Mick Wright and Kaha Mohi are on site and are well underway with the works. The company is actively seeking additional projects in the region.

Glenzeil build Evans Head Aquatic Centre

The Evans Head Aquatic Centre has been the dream of the Evans Head/ Woodburn Pool Committee for the past 17 years. The project was realised after the Richmond Valley Council applied for and received a grant under the Federal Government Economic Stimulus Plan to supplement the monies raised by the pool committee to a total project value of just under $5M.

The project occupies a Greenfield site on the corner of Ash and Woodburn Streets Evans Head and is adjacent to the Council’s playing fields. The site is located in close proximity to the local schools, the CBD and residential areas and covers an area of 1 hectare.

Construction started in October 2009. The Aquatic Centre consists of a 25m 8 lane swimming pool built to strict FINA regulations, a leisure pool complete with interactive features, a gymnasium, kiosk, male, female & PWD amenities, first aid room, offices, plant room areas as well as a 57 space car park. The main pool has a roof and the majority of the concrete concourse and leisure pool area is covered by shade sails affording protection from the elements to all patrons. Generous landscaped areas around the pools and a dual electric BBQ have made the Centre into a very family and group friendly venue.

Glenzeil would like to acknowledge the contributions of Michael McKenzie and Ray Medhurst (Richmond Valley Council), Mark Stalhut (NSW Public Works), Yuri Dillon (Liquid Blu Architects), Bob Rienecker (Rienmac Engineers), Wyuna Pools, Stowe Electrical, JR Morgan Earthmoving, Cape Byron Plumbing, Hutchins Concreting, ASM Steel Fabrication, Integrated Landscaping, Al-Ted Roofing, Horizon Sails and Koellner Steel.

The project achieved practical completion in July 2010. Well done to the Glenzeil team of Paul, Rico, Paul, Kieran, Deanne & Teresa.

Glenzeil celebrates 20th Anniversary

This year, Glenzeil is proud to be celebrating our 20th year in the construction industry.
In 1990 Ken Jones and Geoff Rose founded Glenzeil, opened a small office at Southport and were joined by their first employee, Ken Skrinis. From those very humble beginnings the company has grown to be one of South East Queensland’s leading and most respected companies. From conception, Glenzeil’s approach has been based on building strong relationships, based on honesty and integrity, with all it’s clients, subcontractors and suppliers, irrespective of the circumstances.

Since the retirement of Ken and Geoff in 2006, Ken Skrinis and Brian Gabriel have become the sole Directors and owners of the company. With the help of a loyal and supportive management team, Glenzeil have been able to expand the business to now employ over 80 full time staff with an annual turnover of approximately $120 million.

Dedication to the continual improvement of our team and techniques has enabled Glenzeil to maintain its reputation for quality.

Glenzeil is a good example of how the growth and success of a business can be achieved with professional management, successful relationships and dedicated staff.
