School Projects

Glenzeil have built a large number of educational projects including Kindergartens, State Schools, High Schools and Universities for both the Public and Private sectors.

Some of these projects included the roll-out of the Federal Governments Stimulus Package:

  • National School Pride (NSP)
  • Building the Education Revolution (BER)
  • State Schools of Tomorrow (SSOT)
  • Technical Trade Centres (TTC’s)

As principle contractor on these projects, Glenzeil were contracted on a fast tracked Design and Construct delivery system in accordance with the Department of Education and Training’s stringent Design Guidelines.

During the National School Pride (NSP) projects, Glenzeil refurbished numerous classrooms (GLA’s) and resource centres (RES) as well as the construction of new play areas, covered links and shade structures. These projects were programmed into multiple stages to minimise disruption to the schools teaching operations.

Building the Education Revolution (BER) projects comprised design and construction services for various sized multi-purpose halls (MPH) and resource centres as well as associated ancillary works for covered links and disabled access ramps. These projects required close working relationships with the various stakeholders to ensure the projects could be designed and constructed to the Client’s expectations in the set construction time.
The roll-out of the State Schools of Tomorrow (SSOT) projects involved the refurbishment of various laboratories:

  • Computer
  • Science
  • Physics
  • Chemistry

Bringing these old laboratories up to current DET and Statutory Codes involved upgrading almost all of the buildings services.

The Technical Trade Centre (TTC) projects involved the design and construction of various teaching areas for various trades:

  • Metalwork
  • Automotive
  • Electrical
  • Aquaculture Centres

The specialised equipment and services involved as well as conformance with Workplace Health and Safety guidelines were a challenging part of these projects.

Private Schools have included classrooms and associated buildings which were delivered in a traditional lump sum tender manner.

We have also completed many University Projects including:
  • Southern Cross University, Lismore
  • Southern Cross University, Coolangatta
  • Griffith University, Parkwood
  • Griffith University, Logan
  • Griffith University, Nathan Campus
These projects have been delivered as lump sum tenders and design and construct.

Glenzeil builds Evans Head Acquatic Centre

The Evans Head Aquatic Centre has been the dream of the Evans Head/ Woodburn Pool Committee for the past 17 years. The project was realised after the Richmond Valley Council applied for and received a grant under the Federal Government Economic Stimulus Plan to supplement the monies raised by the pool committee to a total project value of just under $5M.

The project occupies a Greenfield site on the corner of Ash and Woodburn Streets, Evans Head and is adjacent to the Council’s playing fields. The site is located in close proximity to the local schools, the CBD and residential areas and covers an area of 1 hectare.

Construction started in October 2009. The Aquatic Centre consists of a 25m, 8 lane swimming pool built to strict FINA regulations, a leisure pool complete with interactive features, a gymnasium, kiosk, male, female & PWD amenities, first aid room, offices, plant room areas as well as a 57 space car park.
The main pool has a roof and the majority of the concrete concourse and leisure pool area is covered by shade sails affording protection from the elements to all patrons.

Generous landscaped areas around the pools and a dual electric BBQ have made the centre into a very family and group friendly venue.
