Robina Health Precinct - Project Progress

Background

In late 2009 a Project Team was established and engaged to progress the planning, design and delivery of the Robina Health Precinct.

In consultation with the Gold Coast Health Service District, the Project Team responded to the requirements outlined in the Health Services Plan (inc. Various Addenda) via preparation of the site Master Plan (MP), Schematic Design, Design Development and Contract Documentation.

In November 2010, and in-line with the available funding, the Project Team released Tender Documentation for Stage 1 of development. Glenzeil won the tender and was awarded the contract just prior to Easter 2011 and construction commenced soon after.

Glenzeil actively supports Safe Work Australia Week 2011

Glenzeil Pty Ltd, one of Queensland’s leading commercial construction companies, is proudly supporting Safe Work Australia Week 2011.

Glenzeil undertook safety activities across its construction sites in Queensland and NSW this week, supporting the campaign of ‘be on a winning team, achieve zero harm at work’. Approximately 100 Queenslanders die each year as a, result of work-related injuries and nearly 30 000 are seriously injured. Safe Work Week is an opportunity for all Queenslanders to consider ways to make the workplace healthier and safer.

Glenzeil is proud to be working with Mates in Construction – an organisation set up to educate the industry about the high levels of suicide in the construction sector.  The suicide rate for young workers in the Queensland construction industry is more than twice the national average for men. As part of Safe Work Australia Week, Glenzeil will target their safety message towards improving the mental health and wellbeing of all workers.

Brian Gabriel, Director of Glenzeil said Safe Work Australia Week was an important initiative for the construction sector. “Glenzeil is committed to maintaining extremely high standards in workplace health and safety, and as such we are proud to actively support Safe Work Week Australia 2011,”

“Throughout the week we held activities across our sites to engage our staff and sub-contractors in the importance of physical health, mental health and safety at work, and how it is everyone’s responsibility. Mates in Construction addressed Glenzeil staff on site, at the Jupiters Casino project.  We feel this information session was critical to generating awareness about the mental health issues affecting construction workers, particularly now in a slow market”, Mr Gabriel said.

Activities throughout the week included on-site barbeques at Beenleigh Police Station, Robina Health Precinct, Jupiters Casino and at the Head Office. We also attended the Zero Harm at Work Leadership Breakfast and WHS Information Sessions.  Glenzeil’s in-house fundraising campaigns will see all proceeds going to Mates in Construction.
